Earlier this year, we’ve presented the Designpack Gallery, this space exclusively dedicated to the art of eco-friendly packaging. We’ve referred to the arrival of the first 100% recycled Christmas tree. The end of the year is coming, it’s time to find back our creative child soul. Ultra easy to build, this green tree is made up of 43 recycled plastic bottles, its trunk and its foot are 100% recycled cardboard. The good news is that after Christmas, the tree can be stored for one year or taken apart and put in sorting bins, clever isn’t it? Especially that for each purchased tree, €2 are donated to WWF which plants trees and maintains forests. A responsible attitude for a green Christmas.

Until January 15th, 2010, the 1st arrondissement of Paris will be illuminated with green decorations. As part of operation Paris illumine Paris, some places have the privilege of being decorated with recycled elements but equally magic to the “traditional” non-ecological ones. The Rue de Richelieu, now boasts over 200 meters, 10 diagonal cross hung from lampposts in the street lighting. These are illuminated by LEDs, which are installed on  collected multicolored plastic bottles. Place André Malraux has as some Christmas trees a bit special one: 4 meters high, they are made entirely of plastic bottles!
This entire operation of ecofriendly decorating has been designed by Fabrice Peltier, the founder of DesignPack Gallery. This company is specialized in the art of packaging and offers a selection of Christmas gifts consisting exclusively of works and objects made from recycled packaging.

For Christmas, Gavarni hotel suggests where organic ecological and environmentally friendly gifts are not lacking. In “L’Espace des Blancs Manteaux”, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th December, the show “Noel en bio” is an opportunity to participate in a meeting of solidarity and fair, with organic producers.

On the stands, many different ideas: cosmetics, clothing, health products, organic foods and gifts of all kinds, all fully green. Open from 11am until 8pm, you’ll find a little time to devote to this beautiful salon, friendly and playful. In addition, entrance is free. It’s a little christmassy before Christmas time!
