7th edition of the Nature Festival: love bugs!

May 17th, 2013 by admin

For its 7th edition, the Nature Festival focuses on bugs. Invisible or underrated, they nonetheless take part in nature’s renewal. They truly are the architects or gardeners of the flora. Thus, without earthworms and other soil small inhabitants, soil would remain sterile and compact. They take part in pollination, manure’s manufacture, wood recycling or deterioration of dead materials. During 5 days, free events, organized in the country in Paris and all over France, will help you discover the stakes of bugs’ preservation. The goal is to re-discover nature and to be amazed by it with your family. Will you be part of it?

7th edition of Nature Festival, from May 22nd to May 26th, 2013.

These packages that change our lives

May 3rd, 2013 by admin

You must admit it, when you are shopping, you are often tempted by food’s packaging even though you don’t need it! We buy with the eyes, because on the shelves, packaging is the only one charming us and making us buy. The Museum of Arts and Crafts dedicates an exhibition to packaging, “These packages that change our lives”, well deserved.

An improvement of our daily lives
Packaging revolutionized households’ comfort
with its creation and especially that of women of the 50s. Solidity, easy opening or lightness, it improved daily lives. But, for several years now, the question of its recycling is being an issue. Packaging pollutes and it is necessary to do something to transform it. Compaction, selective sorting, everything is done so that households can participate in environmental protection while keeping their comfort. Scientists are even allegedly working on edible packaging for the future! An exhibition you have to go see without waiting anymore, it might change your life as a consumer!

Eugene Boudin at the Jacquemart Andre Museum!

May 1st, 2013 by admin

Corot used to call him the “king of the skies” when Monet considered him his master and believed he was one of the precursors of impressionism. Thus, it was essential than a Parisian institution like the Jacquemart-Andre Museum shared with the public the paintings, pastels and watercolors of Eugene Boudin (1824 – 1898) in an outstanding retrospective.

An exceptional retrospective
It is the first time since 1899 that such an event dedicated to Boudin is organized in Paris. The American public was quickly appreciative of his works, and museums of the North of the United States like Washington’s National Gallery or Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts still have today numerous unique works of the artist. This pioneer artist is among the first French painters to have gone out of his studio to draw landscapes, going from his native Normandy or Venice without forgetting Brittany, Bordeaux or South of France. Being able to seize the unique atmosphere of the places he visited throughout his life, he always gave importance to the elements and brought an atmospheric dimension to his works. Represent in an innovative way light’s reflections, clouds and water was undeniably his strong suit.

Sculptor Jules Dalou invites himself at the Petit Palais

April 24th, 2013 by admin

To go with the publication of the reasoned catalog of Jules Dalou’s sculptures (1838 – 1902), an exhibition will take place at Paris’ Petit Palais. The event focuses notably on the monumental productive ability of the artist, as well as on his relationship with the capital’s public space, thanks to the extremely rich Dalou’s funds. It is the first monograph exhibition dedicated to the sculptor.

A path that didn’t run smooth
Having lived in poverty during his childhood in Paris, Dalou started a career that will be quickly interrupted by the 1870 War and Paris Commune in which he participated. He then went into exile across the Channel and became frankly successful with the British. It is thanks to the communards’ amnesty that he moved back to France about ten years later. Then, he gave the City of Paris an aesthetically revolutionary work: The Triumph of The Republic, which you can still admire today at Nation’s Square. It was the first of numerous public monuments created by the artist.

A new exhibition
Between sculptures, paintings, drawings and pictures, the exhibition of the Petit Palais unveils about 400 works, the majority being shown publically for the first time. Coming for the most part from the collection from the multi-talented artist’s studio, this panel of works will enable you to retrace its evolution over the years. You will thus discover the different stages of the making of a historical monument by this mythical sculptor from the 19th century. You have to go visit this!

Côté Sushi will make you love fish!

August 29th, 2012 by admin

If you like sushi but you don’t dare to eat it of fear of participating in the disappearance of endangered species, you are going to love the Côté Sushi restaurants in Paris. Partners of Fish2Fork, a program engaged in the protection of aquatic species on their way to extinction, the chain doesn’t offer for example red tuna but serves Albacore tuna instead. Another example, the eel served is not European (very endangered), but from Unagi. If you order takeout know that Côté Sushi will deliver by bike! Finally, the brand only uses communication aids with the Imprim´Vert label and favors electronic advertising instead of paper. We are telling you, you are going to love fish!

Open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. (except Sundays at noon)
