Gucci signs for eco-responsible purses

March 25th, 2013 by admin

Good news for Spring 2013, the prestigious brand Gucci, launches its first range of purses that are respectful to the environment. Let’s go back to the motivations of the brand.

An ecologic and fashionable deal
It all begins with a collaboration with the Green Carpet Challenge, an association created by Livia Firth, wife of the British actor Collin Firth, whose goal is to defend environmental causes in the sector of fashion. These accessories are entirely made of leather certified Rainforest Alliance, a material produced under control in order to limit the deforestation and that way protect the fauna and its habitat. The label also attends to treat the cattle ethically and defends the rights of workmen. The range created by Gucci declines into three models, each more elegant than the other, which are the Tate, The Jackie and the Hobo. All these items are sold with their Passeport, on which the historic of the logistic chain and the ecologic certification of the final product appears.

Devastating consequences for the environment
The Rainforest Alliance gathers four Brazilian ranches from where the leather is made.  If you want to understand the existence of this network, you have to know that in South America, a lot of environmental damages are caused by livestock farming, leading to a very threatening deforestation. Also note that when it comes to natural leather, the energy production that is necessary is twenty times superior to the one that is needed for the fabrication of a synthetic substitute. Fortunately, some associations are fighting to limit the harmful effects of this practices that put the future of our planet in danger.

From 1800€ for the purse (Hobo model).
On sale in the different Gucci stores and on the official website of the brand.

Toubab got it all right!

January 21st, 2013 by admin

Toubab, it is the story of a young committed designer in love with Africa, who decided to realize jewelry in the most ethical way, by creating her own brand.

Africa, an inexhaustible source of inspiration
Indeed, it is in the context of her studies that Maud Villaret went to Mali for an internship and comes back smitten by this country. Then, she began to build her extravagant creation made with wax, the traditional African material. Still nowadays, there are only unique items. Thus, you will be able to find a whole bunch of fashion accessories, (jewels, belts, purses, etc.), but also objects turned away from their primary function, just like these suitcases turned into decoration items.

An eco-friendly production
You have to know that the artist’s approach is above all human and helpful. In addition to an eco-friendly production process, some of these original creations are handmade in Burkina Faso and in Mali by local craftmen. The rest is a result of the work done by disabled people or by residents of social and professional rehabilitation centers. Cap in hand!

Ethnical objects lovers, you will be served.

Recycled Handbags, the Latest Trend

March 12th, 2012 by admin

Did you know that PVC is the most used material for advertising poster? A surprising report knowing that it always has a very short life. So, we took an interest in Upcycling concept today, already seen in the article about Cyclum, clever accessories brand for men. Keep reading if you want to learn more about the second life of these giants.

Bilum
As a real conquistador, Bilum is the very first French brand using former giant PVC flex banners displayed on building fronts to make handbags and accessories with. Today, it brings back to life other various fabrics as plastic-coated cloth, flags, kakemono, sails and even airbags! The first collection was made with Agnes B. advertising PVC banners. Each piece is unique and 100% Eco-friendly.

February 8th, 2012 by admin

What unusual brand, which seems coming from another planet with its unique style. Ambrym is the child of a wedding between Paris, Rio and Tokyo. Loose-fitting clothes and smooth fabrics, the fashion designer, Gabrielle uses her travels, her Melanesian childhood, her urban life to create fashionable clothes, humanist and poetic. She designs accessories too, such as these fanciful earrings, pelican-shaped, and they’re handmade (weaving, painting, artisan silk-screen…)!

An ethical brand
Of course, it has a real Eco-friendly value and the brand is involved in a sustainable consumer. Fabrics used are Eco-certified such cotton, wool or European linen, and sometimes even Haute Couture fabric scraps. Conformism is over, Ambrym opens the doors to an unusual style, avant-gardist and inventive.

46664. Behind this mysterious number, one of the suffering bore by the President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, is hidden. During 18 years, it was the Nelson Mandela’s Robben Island prison number. He has finally decided to create a solidarity clothing brand for men and women, exclusively sells, for the moment, in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. However, an on-line sales site, is expected to be launched about November 2011. A part of benefits reaped, will be transfer to the Mandela Foundation, wich is fighting against HIV AIDS. Another nice enterprise from Nelson Mandela wich shows his amazing generosity of spirit.

Clara Collins: the responsible color block

June 27th, 2011 by admin

Right next to the Gavarni Hotel is a lovely designer boutique really worth the detour. This boutique is owned by Clara Collins and is the designer’s first and unique store in Paris. This Chinese designer fell in love with France during a trip in the country and never left! Her collections are inspired by films, travels, exhibitions, the streets, cafés and of course, women. Her ambition? Offer her female customers clothes in which they will feel beautiful and confident. The cuts are adapted to the different body types and the fabrics are of high quality. Imported from Italy or Japan, natural fabrics are shown to their best advantage in the work of Clara Collins. Linen and cashmere are the basics of her designs to which more humble fabrics as well as bright colors are added to satisfy her obsession for detail. As a result, her designs are original, creative, modern and comfortable. What more would we ask for?

Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm.
