Mademoiselle Sophie: the fairy of young sprouts!

March 28th, 2011 by admin

To the great displeasure of mothers, little girls don’t care about having nice clothes if they aren’t comfortable. This is where Mademoiselle Sophie steps in. Sophie Gaxette offers an elegant and refined clothing line entirely dedicated to little girls from 3 to 6. Not only are they funny, but the pieces are entirely hand-made with organic fabrics of GOTS certification (Global Organic Textile Standard). Dresses, shorts, tops, skirts and other jackets are adorned with designs that never fall out of fashion with flashy colors between blue, yellow and fuchsia pink. Mademoiselle Sophie therefore makes little ones happy!

Clothes by Mademoiselle Sophie are available online.

Extreme survivors at the Palais de la Découverte

March 25th, 2011 by admin

In conditions where most humans could only try to survive with the help of sophisticated technologies and incredible effort, a few living beings, animal and plants, managed to develop the art of survival beyond all understanding throughout evolution. They are referred to today as high survival specialists. The exhibition “Les survivants de l’extrême” displayed at the Palais de la Découverte offers an initiatory and unusual journey in extreme coldness, intense heat, almost complete dryness, permanent darkness or rarefied air, environments where those “high survival specialists” perpetuate their species. Your turn to experience those extreme conditions!

Until August 28th 2011 at the Palais de la Découverte.
Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9.30 am to 6 pm. Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 7 pm.

Full price: 7 euros. Reduced price: 4 euros.
Planetarium extra: 3,50 euros.

The Hope Café: Brooklyn organic style

March 23rd, 2011 by admin

Halfway between a café, a restaurant and delicatessen, the Hope Café has it all to please the most fervent environmentalists. You can find myriads of good organic products such as fruit and vegetables of the season, jams, wines and other beers. It’s also a great place to drink a glass of fresh fruit juice or to grab a bite of the international cuisine, for example seaweed maki or five tomato salads, while leaning on a standing table proudly set in the middle of the room. Extra bright yellow facade, wooden floors, steel bar, decorative columns and red brick walls, the Hope Café seems to come straight out of Brooklyn. But you can only have a glass of organic Rhône Saint-Estève d’Uchaux for 3 euros in Paris!

The Hope Café is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 12 am and on Sundays from 10 am to 4.30 pm for brunch.
Prices: Set menu at 16€. A la carte, allow about 25€. Brunch at 17€.
