Home sweet Home with Velvette I Care Design

October 15th, 2012 by admin

Behind Velvette I Care Design, there’s a passionate young woman called Elissia. A year ago, she decided to launch her own boutique specialized in eco-design furniture, in the heart of the 6th district of Paris, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. On the spot, we discover that well-being and ecology can be synonyms of beauty. Each decoration item, each piece of furniture emphasizes the work of raw materials and the work of wood in particular. That’s all good because the Scandinavian spirit is still trendy concerning interior decoration! In addition, the aim of the boutique is respecting the environment and sustainable development. This way, you will be able to mix aesthetics, ecology and relaxation.

Open hours: on Monday from 2pm to 7pm and from Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.

Greenpride : Now the Ecology also has its Festival !

October 20th, 2011 by admin

Just as the Gaypride and the Technoparade, why the Ecology would not be celebrated? After all, why in the world would environmentalism necessarily rhyme with pessimism? This is what underlines the Collectif Appel de la Jeunesse, an association created in 2009, by setting the first Greenpride. Happy Ecology could be a good way to tackle the main issues combining health and environment… In any case, we want to believe it! So, it will take place on Sunday October 23, 2011. Among the key events there will be a brunch organized in partnership with organic producers from Ile-de-France at la Villettte Enchantée, the brand new spot of the parc de la Villette. There will be also a carnival parade, eco-designed, everywhere in Paris, with Greenpeace and GoodPlanet, and pop-rock concerts at the Trianon. Who said that Ecology was boring?

More: Between November 7 and December 16, 2011, meetings and debates on environmental and health issues are organized in the Paris area colleges and business schools (Sciences-Po, Dauphine, ESSEC …). They will be led by researchers, scientists and so on.

The Greenpride will take place on Sunday October 23, 2011.

Energy Island: discovering renewable energies

April 1st, 2011 by admin

Coal, oil and natural gas are all exhaustible and eco-destructive sources of fossil fuel energy. Because young generations should be made aware of the use of renewable energies to guarantee a better and more eco-friendly future, the Palais de la Découverte organized a detailed exhibition revolving around the different renewable energies: hydraulic, solar, wind, geothermal and biomass. “Energy island, à la découverte des énergies renouvelables” dedicates a room to each source of energy while using an educational approach to attract the youngest. Various objects linked to those energies are spread throughout the exhibition, an audiovisual touch-screen kiosk gives information while several photographs and videos transport the public to different places, real lands for innovation regarding renewable energies. After gaining a bit of knowledge in the field, young people can learn how to play the “serious game” and try to fulfill the population’s needs and use renewable energies all the while managing the flood of tourists and the climate change. An interactive exhibition for young eco-citizens.

“Energy Island, à la découverte des énergies renouvelables” at the Palais de la Découverte until May 15th 2011.
The Palais de la Découverte is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 am to 6 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 7 pm.
Price: 7€ (4,50€ reduced price).
