Adopt a Tree

September 29th, 2011 by admin

Has the Fête des Jardins left its mark on you ? If so, this good deed has been made for you. The Palace of Versailles offers to adopt a tree for €1000. After the great storm of 1999, gardens have been seriously damaged. The heart of the central axis of the park, the Etoile Royale, was reduced to a vast stretch of lawn punctuated very sparsely by a few Italian poplars. A redevelopment program of the area has been set up and 446 lime trees were planted, according to the historical pattern, thought by Le Nôtre. Adopting a tree is a symbolic and historical act, including the purchase, transportation, planting and a year’s maintenance. A certificate of adoption will be made out in your name or the name of the person to whom you wish to offer it as a gift. Of course, any donation as a private individual gives entitlement to tax cuts. Thus you can have a clear conscience.

AICV: Long life to the school bicycle!

September 28th, 2011 by admin

Since its creation, the Vélib’ has been quickly overwhelmed by its celebrity. Cycling in town means that there are dangers to avoid and rules to respect. The association AICV* has understood it and has set up bike lessons for adults and children. There are several steps to climb into the saddle: learning to ride a bike, to maintain and repair it, and above all, learning the basis of bicycle safety, such as “don’t overtake a heavy weight by the right side” says Joël Sick, president of the AICV. What is the main goal of the participants? To overcome the fear of cycling in the middle of a heavy traffic … In other words, try to live together as best as possible.

Workshop 100% green
The AICV also has a bicycle recycling area. Thus, all bikes thrown out by the city or by individuals are recovered and repaired by people inserting, before being sold at modest price.

Themed rides

The AICV also organizes regularly urban rides or hikes in nature, in order to combine discovery of wildlife, and sport. They already visited forests of Montmorency, Fontainebleau and Barbizon, or the banks of the Seine. A rural stopover to discover in family.

€50 for five lessons

Easy to use, the site calculates your route according to your preferences and especially the way you go cycling. Cycle tracks and pedestrian streets are selected first to guarantee safety and calm. Nothing is Lost, Everything is Transformed !

September 19th, 2011 by admin

This is the motto of l’Allée du Recyclage. This new permanent exhibition area, settled in the bowels of the Paris subway, is dedicated to recycling and sorting trash. They teach us right things to do and benefits of this selective waste sorting. Did you know that, the heart of Paris is one of the dirtiest place in France? Now, these used packaging are transformed as raw materials that artists and craftmen will reuse to create something new, useful or useless. This special art gallery, organized by Fabrice Peltier, founder of the DESIGNPACK GALLERY, shows everyday art items, furnitures, lights, and clothes made with rubbish. The result is amazing and demostrates that a new recycling era is born.

Free entrance from Monday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.

However, an on-line sales site, is expected to be launched about November 2011. A part of benefits reaped, will be transfer to the Mandela Foundation, wich is fighting against HIV AIDS. September 12th, 2011 by admin

After « la mode, la mode, la mode », Paris is becoming the capital of design. With the 1st edition of the Paris Design Week, everybody lives at a frantic pace between graphic design, furniture creation, interior design or even gastronomy. Because there, we talk about design in a broad sense and we celebrate it everywhere in the city. To find our way, we follow the route divided by district and suggested by the event organizers. Close to the Hotel Gavarni, the route “Champs-Elysées/Trocadéro” will send you to Baccarat, the Royal Eclaireur, Ladurée, C 42 of Citroën or even Kenzo Maison. What is the aim of the event? Mainly, bringing design within the general public’s reach by clarifying it and showing that it is not just for initiates! For the occasion, hundreds of events will be organized: exhibitions, debates, parties, launching of new collections, visits of workshops, installations… You will obviously find something that suit your taste !
