REHAB : The art to make a greener world.

December 28th, 2010 by admin

The question of the environment is on everyone’s lips, that’s why the Fondation EDF has found a way to combine art and recycling through an exhibition. The contemporary artists are more and more “eco-sensitive” or simply attentive to the changes of our world. Thus, they are able to identify an unsuspected potential of artistic proposals in the waste. The exhibition REHAB, l’art de re-faire invites the visitor to discover several unusual works, created from everyday and household objects. From Formica furniture to cardboard boxes, REHAB offers us the opportunity to rediscover forgotten materials. About fifteen artists illustrate how they cultivated the two dimensions of the waste by combining its artistic and ambitious contemporary proprieties to environmental issues.

Exposition « REHAB, l’art de re-faire », until February 20th 2011.
Free entrance everyday from noon until 7pm except on Mondays and on holiday.

Au cœur des Océans, to understand and protect them

December 27th, 2010 by admin

The protection of the oceans is a vital issue for the survival of our planet which is mostly composed of water. Thus, it is time for us, eco-citizens, to understand them in order to better preserve them. Au cœur des Océans (in English, in the heart of the oceans) is a work gathering answers to key questions through a series of testimonies, and tips to protect our natural capital. Firstly, the book increases our awareness of marine fauna and flora, introducing their nature, the dangers that threaten them and the dangers for us if they disappear. Secondly, the book introduces a series of initiatives that answer step by step to the growing concerns. In order to more and more sensitize us, Au Cœur des Océans is a wonderful work with several photos that show us the extraordinary biodiversity of the ocean bottom.

A handbag for a day…and Cinderella becomes a green friendly princess!

December 17th, 2010 by admin

Since fashion has a direct impact on households consumption, and therefore on energy consumption and the production of waste and carbon dioxyde, a website had the good idea to offer a more eco responsible fashion. For us girls, buying a new handbag is like adding a piece of jewellery to our collection. It’s hard to stay faithful…and eco responsible . So we feel guilty and we buy eco friendly bags in organic cotton, silk or bache.Yes, it’s the right thing to do, but it’s just so good to walk around like a real Parisian girl with a Chanel or Yves Saint Laurent handbag! Here is the solution: Sac d’un Jour,a website that offers you to rent luxury hanbags for only a day, an evening or more if you want! A brilliant idea to associate luxury and eco friendly

Two green hotels “green” in Paris: the Eiffel Trocadero Hotel Gavarni

December 16th, 2010 by admin

Xavier Moraga, manager of the Hotel Gavarni, the first independent hotel winner of the European Ecolabel in Paris, has just bought another hotel : the Hotel Eiffel Trocadéro, formerly Les Jardins du Trocadéro. These two hotels opened the way to the responsible hotel trade in Paris. Xavier Moraga is very involved regarding ecology and his project is to make a hotel as green as it is possible to do, with solar panels on the roof, showers recycling water, an efficient system of lingerie, bio products for the breakfast…

These two hotels are ideally situated if you want to discover Paris. The hotel Gavarni is situated in a street adjacent to the shopping rue de Passy, which is very typical and lively. The Hotel Eiffel Trocadéro overhangs the Place du Trocadéro. Both are just steps from the Eiffel Tower (visible from your room), the Palais de Chaillot, the Cité de l’Architecture, the Musée d’art Moderne, the Palais de Tokyo, the Musée Guimet, and the Musée de la Mode Galliéra.
There are several taxi-ranks, metro and Velib’ stations near the hotel, and lovely strolls to do. The bateaux-mouches (riverboats) are near too! The surroundings are very romantic. These green hotels keep all the Parisian charm, and yet you will feel responsible thanks to them during your stay in Paris!
