« ETHICS AND CHOCOLATE », a sweet interlude for All Saint’s Day

October 27th, 2010 by admin

Ah chocolate… a sweetness for which we could write 1000 poems but still so bitter… Made in African countries where the working conditions are a total disaster, it is only logical that the Salon du Chocolat has selected sustainable development and ethical consumption for its 16th edition.
A judicious choice when you know that more and more suppliers and buyers turn to fair trade chocolate.
We will enjoy 5 days of chocolate sweetness with a new ethical twist, in association with the Ethical Fashion Show.
The little extra : Alter Eco, sponsor of this year’s edition ,gives each visitor the opportunity to sponsor a cocoa tree and help with the plan of reforestation of Peru and the Amazon.

From October 28th to November 1st, 2010 the Salon du Chocolat is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm
Prices : from EUR 6 to EUR 12,50

October 25th, 2010 by admin

“Nature is precious and when it turns into sculpture… it sets itself up to a work of art”

The Bjorg workshops : organic cooking for everyone

October 15th, 2010 by admin

Bjorg has been one of the first companies to start selling organic food 20 years ago, and they are commited to offer to the French people 100% healthy organic food. Now they go even further. It’s great to have organic ingredients, but it’s even better to know how to choose them, mix them and cook them.
That’s why Bjorg organizes free workshops, along with Laurence Salomon, a great chef and naturopath. The workshops are led by Valérie Jacquier, who is a nutritionist and therapist. Those one hour classes are based on the principles of organic nutrition, including the art of mixing organic ingredients, with the right food supply. Finally a fun, friendly way of learning how to eat better and make easy and delicious recipes with organic products!

The little extra : At the end of the workshop, a little dessert, as well as a basket full of organic products are offered to the most talented students.

Making Velib even easier to use

October 13th, 2010 by admin

The city of Paris launched a free IT application for I Phone, making the use of Velib even more efficient than before,in order to answer the request of Parisians, who want to locate the nearest Velib stations as fast as possible. The city’s administration and services (museums, librairies) will have this application at their disposal, and this new tool should satisfy everyone. This application is also green friendly, since it helps reducing the Co2 emissions linked to the use of Velib.

The “Cyclobulle” is taking over Paris!

October 11th, 2010 by admin

We all know that Veli’b is a model in term green friendly transportation, ever since it was created. The taxi bicycle, also called “cyclopolitain” or “ cyclobulle or even “urban cab”, offers today a new way of travelling the city that is green friendly, fast, very practical and totally unusual. Arriving in France , coming from Germany, this transportation has been adopted by many, from the simple tourist to the expert Parisian. Why such a success? Because it’s so easy to use : it’s a tricycle working with an electric assistance. The driver transporting you is seated in front, and takes you wherever you want to go for the price of a bus ticket. It really looks like a rickshaw from Asia!

However, this transportation remains slow (of course driving doesn’t exceed 25 km per hour); but on the other hand it’s very cheap (about 1 EUR for each kilometer), and most of all it’s green friendly. The tricycle is very robust, made with recyclable materials , it can be used either by individual consumers or green friendly companies.

So as they say : “Biking in Paris is faster than taking a taxi…”

Bread and roses

October 6th, 2010 by admin

Being green friendly is now very popular, and even bakeries are now turning green, like Bread and Roses for exemple, which is also a grocery store. This is a great opportunity to discover the large variety of organic breads they offer. A bread is called “organic” when 95% of its agricultural ingredients are coming from green friendly producers only. Sometimes, so called “professionals” are cheating with the 5% “non organic” ingredients that are tolerated. But thankfully it’s not the case for most of the transformers. To make it simple, organic bread is made by by using organic flour.
