October 30th, 2009 by admin

It is the young chef Jeremie Rosenbois, trained at Alain Ducasse’s, who is heading the kitchen of this surprising restaurant: CRU (raw). Here, we offer you a raw or cooked a la plancha for those who are still afraid to eat raw. Yet Jeremie Rosenbois masters the traditional carpaccio and tartare revisited, adding spices and new flavors. Proof with the carpaccio of celery, beet and fennel! Fish and meat are also available as raw tartare of cuttlefish in both soybeans, the veal tartare with ginger or carpaccio of duck breast with porcini mushrooms and hazelnut oil.
The dishes are all accompanied by French fries of vegetables, quinoa or sauteed vegetables a la plancha. Creative dishes that make you want try them out such as the tempura of vegetables or red trim, a variation on the tomato.
And for those who can not end a meal without a dessert, let yourself be tempted by the tiramisu with chestnuts. Yummy!

My Recycle Stuff

October 28th, 2009 by admin

My Recycle Stuff is a new community which aims to provide barter up to date. It is said  to be the first network of recyclers on the web, My Recycle Stuff let’s you exchange cell phones, clothing, accessories, books or CDs in friendship. Why barter? Because it is environmentally friendly and smart, and it allows us to meet new people who share our ideas and our way of seeing the world.
In addition, we have the ability to geotag the seller, and learn more about our energy consumption and emissions of carbone by anticipating our trip to retrieve the object. Genious!

A green Eiffel Tower?

October 26th, 2009 by admin

The City of Paris is more and more concern about ecology, particularly as regards of its heritage. The Tour Eiffel will have the first floor renovated in 2011. Solar panels will be placed on the roofs of shops and all along the promenade which encircles the monument. Additions that will remain discreet not to distort the so famous appearance of the Iron Lady.

Well advanced, this green project will reduce the consumption of the Eiffel Tower in energy. Just the flicker of 5min per hour, every day from dark to 1am, represents 1% of its consumption. “Given the sunshine in Paris it is the equivalent of consumption of a dozen of homes, heating off.” said Wael Elamine, head of the solar branch of the Union of renewable energy to be recovered with the new facilities.

The Sete (Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel) indicates that the power consumption of the tower is already “100% renewable” since 2006. In exchange for a higher price, the supplier is committed to producing its own energy equivalent.

Vegetarian restaurant: Guen Mai

October 20th, 2009 by admin

Hidden behind the church of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, the mini-restaurant Guen Mai is a popular address of Parisian bobo like Jane Birkin! A good reason to go there? The Zen atmosphere of this vegetarian restaurant, which offers absolute calm. The decoration of the space is just a mind saving campaign, and the dishes are really fragrant. The vegetable pancakes, seeds, lentils and other miso are perfectly delicious. One way to eat healthily in the capital.

Open every day except Sunday, from 11:45am to 03:30pm.

Green computing: green IT

October 16th, 2009 by admin

Christophe Corne, founder of Dotgreen just published last September by Editions Dunod, an overview of the environmental impact of computing today. The situation is delicate: powerful computers are increasingly, efficient and fast, thus inviting men to change them more regularly.
This ever-increasing power leads to pollution of our environment, primarily because of the many waste caused by the material itself (cartridges, printing, computer,…), and secondly, due to the high energy daily needed to operate these machines.
The objective of this work? Educate those who use every day one or more computers, whether at home or at the office, making them understand that the technology race can not go …

A roof for the bee: sponsor one!

October 14th, 2009 by admin

Created by a passionate beekeeper of the Charente-Maritime, Regis Lippinois, the association “A roof for the bees” designed to protect bee populations and also to develop the colonies with the help of individuals or businesses.
By sponsoring a bee, you help this specie highly endangered and as a bonus, you receive the fruit of the work of the small workers!
Honeypots have your name if you are an individual, your logo if you are a business.
A very nice initiative to reconcile bees and men.

Shared gardens in Paris

October 9th, 2009 by admin

The association Vert-tige was created in 2007 by 6 local residents in need of greenery. Following the destruction of a parcel  of vegetation near the Avenue Jean Moulin, along the old railway line to the inner ring, the 6 Parisians have decided to relive this garden. This parcel presents for many years contained cherries, apples, pears, roses and countless of other plants. By creating this new shared garden, under concession with the City of Paris, the goal is to restore the desire for Paris to cultivate gardens and foraging in the purest tradition, after a  day at work for example.
An action to follow for the city so Paris can continue to breathe!

Movies you must watch

October 8th, 2009 by admin

Within 15 days, two films shocks on the impact of humans on the planet were released on our screens black. The hotel offers Gavarni to learn more …

The Cove
This documentary released last September 30th and directed by Louie Psihoyos was rewarded by a dozen film festivals including Sundance in the United States. The reason? The theme, doesn’t please the Japanese government. In Taiji, Japan, thousands of dolphins are slaughtered hidden in a bay before being sold as an ordinary fish. Even the Japanese population seems unaware of what is on their plate! Mafia, powerful lobby, underground economy? One thing is certain, this film has not made happy people in the land of rising sun, and is likely to alarm the rest of the world on a reality unbearable and disturbing.

The Titanic Syndrome
This time, it’s Nicolas Hulot. After his superb emissions Ushuaia, he addresses the national theaters. His goal? Calling people to reason, to question themselves and make the right decisions, both for the environment and themselves. Directed by Jean-Albert Lievre, this film shows a world as it is: finished and vulnerable. Poor of us who had thought that nothing would be depleted: “I believe in abundance and finally I discovered the rarity,” says the ecologist in his film. Nicolas Hulot acknowledges him as a child of this consumer society. He admits having been seduced by this progress that has made men closer but also separate them over the continents. But for him the main question to ask is “how far are we really ready to go in the selection and denial?” Ask yourself the question …

Restaurant La Ferme

October 7th, 2009 by admin

How to be full of vitamins for the coming winter? By going to one of the organic restaurants La Ferme, in Madeleine or Opéra. Natural, handmade and original, is what these institutions offer. You can eat on site or carry your treasures home. We love the salad of three cauliflower (cabbage white, purple and romanesco, red and white quinoa, goat sesame) or one of many proposed sandwich (bagel, wrap, club, toast, organic sourdough baguette or sesame).
The La Ferme also offers organic soups, hot or cold salads and fresh dishes. For dessert, food lovers will love almond carrot cake or the creamy cheesecake. Yummy, my mouth already waters!
