Dietetic Shop in Paris

September 29th, 2009 by admin

Given the current environmental trend, we almost forget that some have been there for years as the Dietetic Shop which opened in 1969. This small boutique-restaurant offers organic and vegetarian dishes. Everything is home made in front of you! Just like at home, the menu changes daily. One can enjoy fresh salads like the Shepherdess with goat cheese, sheep cheese, tomato and green salad, vegetable casseroles and seeds like quinoa, millet or brown rice.
For dessert, we opted for the seaweed cream flavored with chocolate or vanilla. Dietetic Shop also specializes in cocktail: vegetable cocktail (carrot, beet and fennel according to the season), sweet drink (soy milk, apple juice, blueberries) or the duo (carrot and apple or lemon or orange). The restaurant is transformed into a tearoom from 3pm to 6:30pm with a selection of coffees, teas and organic teas. You can also drink delicious fresh fruit juices. And for the impatient ones, the restaurant offers take-aways to take home a touch of freshness…

Open from Monday to Friday from noon to 10:30pm and Saturday from noon to 3pm. Continuous service.
Tearoom from 3pm to 6:30pm.

How to recycle your waste

September 27th, 2009 by admin

For several years now, the problem of waste management is an integral part of the environmental concerns of most developed countries. The association Débrouille Companie provides simple and nice solutions to reuse or recycle your garbage. It brings together many artists and craftsmen in the world, who often come from neighborhoods of metropolitan areas.
Why were they selected? For their creativity. They create useful and decorative products for either themselves or to sell only to those who meet a specific market need.
Débrouille Companie works closely with city councils (including the City of Paris), schools and other associations. Both children and adults can participate in creative workshops, or for the unemployed people there are trainings to practice the art of transforming the waste.

Kiku: the restaurant with no bluefin tuna

September 25th, 2009 by admin

Kiku is a Japanese restaurant unlike any other: environmentally responsible, it has banned bluefin tuna from the menu to preserve the species. The Chef of the restaurant, Kyoichi Kai trained in Tokyo and then Sydney, London and Paris has decided to propose a menu based on eco-friendly materials. In explanation, there is a discreet note on the menu: “The bluefin tuna is an endangered species, this is why we decided not to serve it in our restaurant.”
The credo of Kyoichi Kai? Reinterpret Japanese dishes international style. A modernized version of Japanese cuisine that will leave no one unconcerned.
We tried the tempura prawns with spicy mayonnaise, salmon carpaccio soy, sesame and yuzu, the black pollock marinated in white miso or the sliced steaks with garlic and soy sauce. Of course, there are also sushis.

From 35€ for dinner a la carte. Tasting menus at 35€ and 45€. Noon menu at 10.50€ and  14.50€.
Open daily from 12am to 2:30pm and 7:30pm to 10:30pm. Closed on Sundays.

Lush organic soaps in Paris!

September 17th, 2009 by admin

Lush is a company born in England in 1995 marketing fresh, hand-designed cosmetics based on vegetable and organic fruit. Not tested on animals, Lush products are also manufactured with the greatest respect for nature. Lush, which means « lush, juicy and tasty » is increasingly the preferred choice for women (and men) sensitive to a harmony between beauty and environment, without forgetting health.
We like the solid shampoos that can last up to 2 months! In addition to being ecofriendly, Lush products are also good for our wallets through an investment in the long term, and we love it!

Ozone Day!

September 9th, 2009 by admin

Since the United Nations has proclaimed September 16th anniversary of the signing of the Montreal Protocol (ratified in 1987 by 24 countries and the EU) the countries are trying to find solutions to protect the layer of ozone. Remember that this thin film protects us from harmful rays (UV) and allows us to live.
One reason more than sufficient to protect this “heavenly” wrap. The 2009 theme is simple: “Save our sky: a planet-friendly ozone is our goal.” Today we talk about respect, education (especially the younger generation) through documentaries. As we are reminded by the scientists, the hole in the ozone layer continues to grow, an increase that is not ready to stop and that has been existing for nearly 25 years (the first discovery of the hole was back in 1985, observed at that time over the Antarctic).

Route des Comptoirs: organic tea

September 7th, 2009 by admin

The tea supplier of Hotel Gavarni is first of all the story of one man, François Cambell, tea lover since childhood when he use to spend his pocket money in unique beverages. After a formative experience in parapharmaceutical laboratories Francois Cambell in 1997 decided to synthesize his knowledge and put it in use for the environment. He creates tLa Route des Comptoirs and begins to import organic tea in France. Forerunner, he realized tea is the most drunk beverage in the world and it deserves to be of high quality.
Ahead of his time, far from playing the chic tea time game that offer some great houses now-a-days, at the first Tea Fair Frade in 2000, he was the only one to think to sell tea to consumers, to explain him to “the difference” and not just make a simple representation of state.
Consumers are not misled, Francois Cambell offers a product at a crossroads, between concept of flavor diet and respectful of our environment.
Always looking for new mixes, giving free rein to his inspiration, he draws on plantations certified organic by Ecocert, where on-site certification survey, conducts inspections and monitors the production before giving the green light. Seamless traceability that the success of the company.
